Faye López, a native of Missouri, holds a bachelor’s degree in sacred music and master’s degree in piano performance. She assisted her husband, Steve, in various music ministries in Indiana and North and South Carolina for over 25 years. Faye is an Assistant Professor of Music at Bob Jones University, where she teaches piano, hymn improvisation and music theory. She serves on the music staff of Community Baptist Church in Greer, SC.
She has numerous published compositions and arrangements by Alfred, Fred Bock, Lillenas, Lorenz, Hal Leonard/Shawnee Press, Hope Publishing, Soundforth, and several other music publishers. In addition to choral music, she has six piano solo recordings and over thirty piano books in print.
Steve and Faye have two grown children and six grandchildren. Faye is a former homeschool mom, is currently serving as a pregnancy care center client advocate, and is a mentor to college and church women.
Church pianists today must be able to seamlessly move between worship band charts and traditional scores, while increasing skills for segues and underscoring. This session covers basic techniques to fill the need for this kind of versatility.
